The Packers moved up nine spots in the second round of the 2016 NFL draft to select offensive lineman Jason Spriggs at No. 48 overall.
But a little more than a year later, some aren't sure that move is paying dividends.
A long (6'7"), athletic, natural tackle, the selection made sense when the Packers were facing the prospect of losing starting left tackle David Bakhtiari, whose deal was set to expire. But when Bakhtiari re-signed through 2020, and with right tackle Bryan Bulaga under contract through 2019, Spriggs became an intriguing chess piece for Green Bay, seemingly too talented to be a depth player but with no starting tackle positions open to him.
