It’s exactly the offseason the Green Bay Packers needed. After multiple seasons of underachieving and two consecutive years without reaching the playoffs, change was needed in Titletown. Take nothing away from Mike McCarthy and the incredible career he had in Green Bay, but something wasn’t working in recent years, and president Mark Murphy was forced to make a change.
The Packers not only enter 2019 with a new head coach, but their approach to free agency is still completely new with second-year general manager Brian Gutekunst making the decisions. It’s a fresh approach, and Gutekunst’s aggressiveness makes it clear the Packers’ focus is to win now while Aaron Rodgers is still in his prime.
