Tommy DeVito took 20 sacks in his first three starts, including a nine-sack bonanza in Week 11 at Washington when the Giants’ rookie quarterback didn’t help his offensive line much.
But Monday night was different. Monday night, DeVito wasted no time in using his legs to escape when the Green Bay Packers’ pass rush beared down.
The coaching staff was intentional about DeVito using his mobility. He executed the plan. And the result was zero Packers sacks, 10 DeVito carries for 71 yards and a Giants win.
“Yeah, we emphasized it,” offensive coordinator Mike Kafka said.
