The Green Bay Packers are set to hire former New England Patriots defensive coordinator DeMarcus Covington for their defensive line position, according to a report from ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.
Covington spent last season as the defensive coordinator for the Patriots under Jerod Mayo. It was his first season at the position, and the defense struggled on the field, giving up an average of 342.9 yards per game and 5,829 yards on the season overall.
Covington previously served as the defensive line coach before his promotion to defensive coordinator.
The Patriots have already named Terrell Williams as their new defensive coordinator, along with a slew of other changes to the coaching staff.
