His daughter, Karsetta Carr, said he had been suffering from dementia and prostate cancer.
A member of the Green Bay Hall of Fame, Carr was drafted fifth overall in 1968. He played his entire nine-year career with Green Bay, terrorizing offenses with uncanny speed for a 6-foot-5, 250-pound linebacker.
A product of Phoenix Union High School in south Phoenix, the three-sport prep star first played college ball at Phoenix College, where he won a national championship, before moving on to play football and basketball at University of Texas El-Paso.
His legacy in south Phoenix continued after his playing days.
