Former Packers coach Mike Holmgren passed over for Hall of Fame

Mike Holmgren, who helped lead Green Bay out of the wilderness when he became the Packers coach in 1992, was passed over for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, while Packers receiver Sterling Sharpe did get the votes needed for the honor.

The Hall of Fame's class of 2025 included Sharpe, Eric Allen, Jared Allen and Antonio Gates.

Holmgren, the Packers coach from 1992-1998, was among five finalists in a category that included senior players, coaches and contributors, of which only three could be elected. Finalists needed approval by 80% of the members of the full selection committee, or have the most votes of the five if no one received 80%.
