Among other changes to take place in Green Bay during their early start to the 2018 offseason, a new role for Joe Whitt Jr. is one of the subtle, yet, impactful ones.
Whitt was promoted from cornerbacks coach -- a post he's held since former defensive coordinator Dom Capers' arrival in 2009 -- to defensive pass game coordinator. He now has the ability -- and authority -- to oversee every dynamic of the passing game from his own perspective.
Jason Simmons will also assist Whitt as the Packers' secondary coach. He first came to Green Bay in 2011 as a coaching administrator for three seasons before being shifted to the job of assistant special teams coach.
