Eagles’ Oren Burks fined for hit on Packers returner Keisean Nixon that caused fumble in wild-card game

GREEN BAY – Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Oren Burks was fined $8,333 for use of his helmet on a hit to Green Bay Packers kick returner Keisean Nixon in the Packers’ 22-10 loss to the Eagles in a wild-card playoff game last week.

Burks was not penalized at the time of the hit, but the NFL deemed it unnecessary roughness (use of the helmet) in fining him. Burks’ helmet collided with the front of Nixon’s helmet, causing Nixon to fumble the ball. Nixon appeared to recover but the ball was taken away from him in a scrum and it was ruled Philadelphia’s ball.
