Doughnuts are for tackling, not eating, at Packers practices

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Two years ago, the Green Bay Packers hired a full-time nutritionist. This offseason, they added doughnuts to their practice plan.

No, not the sugary, frosted kind.

These are green and gold, of course, and they’re supposed to help the Packers tackle better.

The doughnuts were one of the most noticeable additions to the practice field during an offseason that featured a bevy of new drills. From the very first OTA practice right through this week’s minicamp, the Packers devoted a period of almost every practice to tackling doughnuts.
