Heading into the draft it appeared to me that the Packers likely needed multiple defensive edge players to increase the pass rush for the 2017 season.
The Packers drafted just one outside linebacker, Vince Biegel of Wisconsin. They also signed Johnathan Calvin of Mississippi State as an undrafted free agent.
The outside linebacker group now consists of Clay Matthews (loaded statement, I know), Nick Perry, Jayrone Elliott, Kyler Fackrell and practice squad holdover Reggie Gilbert in addition to the two rookies.
The Packers’ top two players at the position have consistently missed time throughout their careers due to injury.
