Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell christened his defense with a new nickname Thursday night during the celebration of the win over the Green Bay Packers, and the new moniker has caught on with Detroit's defenders.
Campbell called his defense a group of "northern savages" for the group's ability to deliver in another critical game despite missing over a dozen defenders because of injury and facing a strong Packers offense. Detroit gave up a season-high 31 points in the win, but held Green Bay to seven points in the first half and came up with a red-zone stop, limiting Green Bay to a tying field goal and set up the win.
