He’s an undrafted free agent out of Wesley College. Callahan did win the Gagliardi Trophy, which is the Division III version of the Heisman, and amassed a 33-7 record in three years as the Wolverines’ starter.
But did he have the chops for the next level?
“You got to be very pleased with what Joe’s accomplished really in all four games,” said Packers coach Mike McCarthy following Green Bay’s 17-7 loss to Kansas City in the final preseason game on Thursday. “He played a lot of football — unexpected to play that much. Very proud of him.
