They added defensive coordinator Mike Pettine and offensive coordinator Joe Philbin.
But was that enough?
They brought back head coach Mike McCarthy on a one-year deal. Now McCarthy is in a quagmire as he stresses about his job for 2019. His players know that if the Packers don’t get back on track he is likely gone.
I realize that McCarthy was 121-70-1 entering this season. He has a Super Bowl title under his belt in addition to three NFC Championship Game losses. He has done a remarkable job as the Packers coach for 12 seasons.
If the Packers really wanted to hit the reset button, wouldn’t it have made sense to make a complete break and get a new head coach as well?
