Preston Smith fell off a cliff last year.
He registered only 14 hurries, the worst of his six-year career. It was even more glaring when you juxtaposed it against 2019 when he tallied 32.
It’s time to brace for a bounceback season from Smith. First of all, it’s about the money. Smith, 28, agreed to come back to Green Bay for $4 million less than he was expected to earn in 2021 and he will be handsomely rewarded for his production. For six sacks, he gets a $500,000 bonus, for eight sacks he gets an additional $750,000 and tack on another three-quarters of a million for getting 10 sacks.
