Packers Legacy: (things I didn't know - or forgot). In 1940, College Football was much bigger than Pro Football. During that time, there was also an annual exhibition game in August pitting a College All-Star Team against the reigning NFL Champions. The Packers played the college team at Soldier Field, where 84,000 fans watched Green Bay "upset" the All-Stars by a convincing 45-28 score. The win meant so much to Curly Lambeau that in an interview later on in his life, he called it his greatest victory and accomplishment as a head coach - bigger than any of his six NFL championships.
