The Washington Commanders signed Ramiz Ahmed, a former Green Bay Packers kicker, on Tuesday. Ahmed was let go by the Birmingham Stallions of the UFL in late May when their primary placekicker, Chris Blewitt, returned from injury. On the season, Ahmed was 10-of-13 and was 14-of-22 with a long of 61 yards with the Pittsburgh Maulers in the 2022 USFL season.
After his success with the Maulers, Ahmed signed with the Packers in August of 2022. He was signed to the practice squad after cutdowns that season and was activated to the gameday roster several times that season as a kickoff specialist, a phase of the game where aging kicker Mason Crosby struggled.
