Over the last few decades, the rivalry between the Iowa Hawkeyes and Penn State Nittany Lions has generated some fascinating games. However, not all of them have been pretty to an outside observer.
Take the 2004 season, for example. That year, Iowa — behind a 14-of-31 passing day from quarterback Drew Tate — earned a 6-4 victory over Joe Paterno’s Penn State team. The two teams combined for seven turnovers and just 315 yards of total offense in one of the most notorious college football games in recent memory.
Not all of the games between these two Big Ten schools have been so rough to watch, but there have been plenty of ugly ones over the years.
