GREEN BAY − Chuck Lane, the Green Bay Packers’ public relations director for four head coaches, including Vince Lombardi, died Sunday morning after a long illness. He was 82.
Lane was the Packers’ PR director from 1966 through 1980, except for the 1974 season. He also helped found the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame Association, had a stint working in public relations at UW-Green Bay and for two teams in the USFL, and had a long run working for what is now Humana health insurance, first in public relations, then coordinating the company’s agents incentives program, which allowed him to travel the world.
