Cheese Curds, 8/12: Debut of Packers’ 2024 offense was Love at first sight

The Green Bay Packers’ preseason opener on Saturday was an enjoyable watch, as preseason games go. The Packers defeated the Cleveland Browns comfortably, got some good play from a few notable young players, and generally looked like a team that has done a good job building up its depth in the offseason.

But the big moment in the team’s 2024 debut came quickly, with Jordan Love and the starters on offense on the field for the first series. Love’s bomb to Dontayvion Wicks was the QB’s third play of the preseason and it might well be his last, as he demonstrated pinpoint accuracy on a deep ball — something that eluded him at times last season — and perfect timing with the second-year receiver.
