Doug Pederson was once a valued member of the Green Bay Packers. He backed up Brett Favre for years during two stints with the Packers in the 1990s and early 2000s, providing valuable (if unnecessary) insurance behind the NFL’s all-time Iron Man.
These days, he’s making his living as the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, a team that finished 7-9 last season and went through a 1-7 stretch from weeks 8 through 15. Furthermore, his team scored more than 30 points just once all season.
That’s great for Pederson, but he is in the headlines this week for making some inexplicable comments comparing the team he currently coaches to the 1996-97 Packers teams that he played on.
