Cheese Curds, 7/11: Getting excited about Green Bay’s new safety group

Rarely does a team revamp an entire position group to the extent that the Green Bay Packers changed over their safeties this offseason. Although with that said, the Packers have done it a few times under Brian Gutekunst — think the tight end group last season or the edge rushers in 2019.

Still, the team returns one player who was on the field for any significant snaps at safety last season, and that is 2023 7th-round draft pick Anthony Johnson, Jr. Otherwise, it’s a whole new cast of characters; out are Darnell Savage, Jonathan Owens, and Rudy Ford while the incoming group includes free agent Xavier McKinney and draft picks Javon Bullard, Kitan Oladapo, and Evan Williams.
