For yet another year, the Green Bay Packers focused on their defense in the early rounds of the NFL Draft. They did so after spending big on free agents on defense, demonstrating a commitment to improving the personnel on that side of the ball to help give coordinator Mike Pettine more tools to work with that would fit his scheme.
However, this came despite plenty of predictions that the team would pursue wide receivers, tight ends, or offensive linemen early on in the draft. And although they did draft players at two of those positions on the draft’s second day, the primary investment this offseason remained on the other side of the football.
