The Packers’ offseason needs are many: they need help in the defensive backfield, on the defensive line, and at linebacker. They’ll probably need another running back at some point, they can always use help at wide receiver, and it never hurts to add bodies on the offensive line.
But to fix many of those issues, they need cap space, and they took the first step toward addressing their incoming cap crunch this weekend. David Bakhtiari agreed to restructure his bonus, shifting his money around and freeing up a bit of breathing room.
There’s a long way to go, of course, but Russ Ball has now ticked the first of many cap-related boxes.
