It’s not just one player — it’s never just one player. But the Green Bay Packers’ defense seems to have taken a significant turn for the better in recent weeks at the same time as the decision to move Krys Barnes to the middle linebacker position in place of Christian Kirksey.

Green Bay’s defense has quietly been good throughout the second half of the season, however, driven in no small part by improved safety play. Perhaps the players’ meeting with coordinator Mike Pettine, led by veteran Za’Darius Smith, really did play a major role in the team’s better results overall.
