When Brett Favre is inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton on Aug. 6, there is no doubt his name will be pronounced correctly.
That was not the case 25 years ago when the then 21-year-old Southern Mississippi quarterback was drafted by Atlanta early in the second round.
With the 33rd pick in the 1991 NFL draft, "Atlanta has selected Brett Favor (sic)," said NFL executive Don Weiss, who famously mispronounced Favre's name at the Marriott Marquis in New York City during ESPN's live broadcast of the draft.
Favre could have cared less.
