On April 23, the Green Bay Packers shocked the NFL world by trading up with the Miami Dolphins to select Utah State quarterback Jordan Love with the 26th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
The cost to move up for the 21-year-old signal-caller was picks No. 30 and 136, their first- and fourth-rounders this year.
The Packers’ first-round pick was widely expected to be used on a player that could help them get better immediately following a 13-win season and NFC Championship Game appearance in 2019, but the desire for a long-term answer at quarterback clearly outweighed the desire to add an immediate difference-maker in the minds of Green Bay’s decision-makers.
