Beat the clock: Aaron Rodgers' quicker release helps Packers' offense improve

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Tenths of a second matter to coach Mike McCarthy and his offense. It’s why during training camp the Green Bay Packers use a clock that’s set at 2.5 seconds and counts down each time the ball is snapped.

If the clock hits 0.0 and the quarterback still has the ball in his hand, a siren sounds and green and red lights flash.

It’s McCarthy’s version of a shot clock.

If it were allowed on the sideline during games this season, the Packers would be sick of the sound and tired of the lights.
