Los Angeles (AFP) - Chicago Bears linebacker Danny Trevathan has been suspended for two games following a helmet-to-helmet hit on Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams, the National Football League announced Saturday.
Adams suffered a concussion and needed hospital treatment after Trevathan smashed into his facemask in a brutal collision during the Bears' 35-14 defeat at Lambeau Field.
Bears coach John Fox later insisted there was no malicious intent in the tackle and that Trevathan was "not a dirty player."
The Bears were given a 15-yard penalty after the hit but Trevathan escaped being ejected from the game.
