PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - With Super Bowl 58 on the horizon. Many people don’t know we have a little bit of Super Bowl history right here in Bay County.
Bud Abel played in the inaugural Super Bowl for the Kansas City Chiefs.
The first big game was played on January 15, 1967, at Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles. It was a battle of two leagues. The champions of the newly formed American Football League, the Kansas City Chief, versus the Green Bay Packers who were the champions of the National Football League.
This was a battle for football supremacy.
