Rob Demovsky has reported that the Green Bay Packers have signed Bashaud Breeland to a one-year contract for the veteran’s minimum of $790,000 in base salary. Breeland also will receive a $90,000 bonus paid in three installments over the course of the 2018 season. The base salary will be prorated for the thirteen remaining games.
The deal comports with the rules for a qualified contract under the CBA. Under those rules, Breeland’s base salary for cap purposes only will be reduced to the minimum for a second-year player, or $630,000. Since Breeland has missed 3 games, the cap number for the base salary will be 13/16ths of $630,000, or $511,875.
