Green Bay — For the second time in as many days, linebacker ClayMatthews arrived at Ray Nitschke Field around 9 a.m., some 40 minutes after the Green Bay Packers had begun practice.
He came without pads. He did not participate.
Matthews continues to rest and recover from what coach MikeMcCarthy described as knee soreness, an ailment that originated during Saturday's practice and sidelined Matthews the last two days. McCarthy, speaking again Tuesday, said he has not met with the trainers about Matthews specifically.
His absence left a wake of young, inexperienced inside linebackers vying for valuable reps with the first-team defense.
