Although typically the Green Bay Packers haven't valued the inside linebacker position very highly -- oftentimes relying on Day 3 picks, undrafted free agents, or cheap free agents to fill the need -- apparently, that was one position that was of somewhat high priority for GM Brian Gutekunst in this year's draft.
The Packers would take Isaiah McDuffie from Boston College in Round 6, but as Gutey told reporters after the draft, he was hoping to address the position early on, but the opportunity never presented itself. And that, of course, is one issue when it comes to relying on the draft to fill a need--you have no control over how the board falls.
