Mulumba chose the Chiefs after visiting with the New England Patriots. The Green Bay Packers, who Mulumba played his first three seasons with, made no attempt to re-sign him.
In fact, the Packers essentially said they were finished with Mulumba when they chose not to tender him a restricted free agent contract after the season. In doing so, they made Mulumba an unrestricted free agent.
We figured the Chiefs as a logical landing spot because of general manager John Dorsey, who came up under Packers general manager Ted Thompson. Dorsey signed outside linebacker Frank Zombo when the Packers gave up on him after the 2012 season.
