A quarterback's best friends: The more offensive weapons, the better

Quarterbacks in the National Football League are only as good as the talent around them, except for a select few. It's important to note that surrounding a bad quarterback (such as New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson) with talent won't automatically elevate them to the level of a premier or even an average quarterback. Still, though, there are recent examples of young starting quarterbacks that have benefited greatly from the addition of offensive skill players, mainly wide receivers.

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen struggled through his first two years in the league, one reason being his lack of weapons (Zay Jones led the team in receiving yards in 2018 and John Brown led the team in receiving yards in 2019), but he took a giant leap in 2020 after the Bills acquired wide receiver Stefon Diggs during the offseason, passing for 4,544 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
