Will Joe Barry tweak his game plan?
Versus the Chiefs last week, the appeal of Barry’s style of defense was evident. The “bend, but don’t break” mantra came to fruition, as Patrick Mahomes and company stalled in the red zone on multiple occasions and were stopped just often enough for the Packers to come out with a win.
When Green Bay’s defense manages to limit explosive plays and keep everything in front of them, they have success. That strategy arguably works better against stronger offenses, who can become impatient and make mistakes.
The problem is that Barry often treats every quarterback in the league like they are Mahomes, refusing to come out of his two-high shell and allowing offenses who primarily want to run the ball to do just that, churning out long drives in the process.
