Richie James Jr., the 49ers’ primary returner last season, broke a bone in his right wrist during a workout, the team confirmed Friday.
News of James’ injury, first reported by NFL Network, came a day after the 49ers confirmed Deebo Samuel, the expected No. 1 receiver, underwent surgery for a broken bone in his left foot.
Both receivers will be sidelined when training camp is scheduled to open in late July. James is likely to miss at least two months, according to NFL Network; Samuel’s return could take 12-16 weeks, although he tweeted on Thursday that he would be ready in 10.
