Managing the salary cap is no easy task. It’s also challenging to determine when is the right time to move on from players and replace them with younger talent. For the most part, the Green Bay Packers have done a good job of deciding when to give players new long-term contracts, and when the time is right to move on. But no general manager is perfect.
Packers GM Brian Gutekunst has made some great decisions in his short time in the job. Signing the Smith Bros. proved to be an all-time great free agency decision. Trading up for Jaire Alexander also looks like a smart move, as does drafting Darnell Savage and Elgton Jenkins.
