The Green Bay Packers hired head coach Matt LaFleur because he is supposed to be one of the next great offensive minds such as Sean McVay or even a Sean Payton before him.
Ever since Ron Wolf came aboard in 1992, the Packers have tended to lean towards offensive-minded head coaches. There was Mike Holmgren and outside of Ray Rhodes, the others -- Mike Sherman and Mike McCarthy have all been offensive guys. So too is LaFleur, who has spent the last two seasons as offensive coordinator for the Rams and Titans before ascending to head coach in Green Bay.
