After leaving this past Sunday's loss to the Green Bay Packers with a groin strain, Clay Matthews has progressed according to plan when it comes to making a quick recovery.
Matthews is currently listed as probable on the team's injury report after practicing in a limited capacity on Wednesday and Thursday.
According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com, "there's still one hurdle for Matthews to clear before kickoff. Under coach Mike McCarthy’s new schedule, the Packers hold a light practice on Saturdays before Sunday games. The Packers did not practice on Friday but estimated that Matthews' participation level would have been limited if they would have practiced."
McCarthy is optimistic about Matthews' chances to make it to Sunday.
"Yeah, so far, so good," McCarthy said on Friday, via Demovsky's article. "The medical review, the report today was good on Clay. We still have 48 hours, so we're confident that he'll be ready to go. But like I said, he's still working through it."
Matthews was a lot more succinct about his chances of playing on Thursday.
"Yeah, I'll be out there," he said.
