As expected, the Green Bay Packers have placed TE Jermichael Finley on the season-ending injured reserve.
Finley took a hit in the fourth quarter of Green Bay's 31-13 win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 7 that left him prone on the ground, and after lying motionless for several minutes he was immobilized and taken off on a stretcher.
Finley spent the night in the hospital, where he regained movement in his extremities.
Finley was officially diagnosed with a bruised spinal cord. He's expected to make a full recovery and play football again next season, but his 2013 season is officially over.
2011 first-round pick Derek Sherrod has been activated and placed on the 53-man roster in Finley's place. Sherrod, an offensive tackle out of Mississippi State, hasn't played since December 2011 when he broke his leg against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Packers placed TE Jermichael Finley on injured reserve and have activated T Derek Sherrod from reserve/physically unable to perform list.
