With Teddy Bridgewater a late scratch for the Vikings, Christian Ponder got the start as the Vikings (2-2) take on the Packers (2-2) at Lambeau Field. With rain throughout the evening, conditions figure to be slick at the not yet "Frozen Tundra."
Here are a few main points from the first half.
Green Bay is winning the field position battle:
This first half blowout is due in large part to the Vikings starting out in miserable field position offensively. Minnesota did not start a single possession in the first half past their own 21 yard line. They also had two returns wiped out by penalties, including one that went to the Green Bay 45 by Cordarrelle Patterson.
Weather not affecting Packers passing attack:
Aaron Rodgers admitted this week he does not like to play in rain, but you could hardly tell by his first-half numbers. Rodgers threw three first half touchdowns, the final of which was the 200th of his career.
Game plan for Packers coming to fruition:
The Packers came into the game ranked last in run defense. Although they look much better tonight, the key has been gaining an early lead to force the Vikings to give up on the run. Christian Ponder was forced to take the ball into his own hands, and threw two first-half interceptions, including a pick-six by Julius Peppers.
