HBO’s TV show “Hard Knocks” follows an NFL team throughout training camp and the preseason every year, often giving a boost in popularity to the team that volunteers to be featured. Here’s why the Green Bay Packers are perfect for the show this year:
4) Aaron Rodgers
The reigning NFL MVP is one of the most private players in the league, and Hard Knocks would give fans inside access and the opportunity to learn even more about one of the league's biggest stars.
3) Linebacker competition
The Packers released their two starting middle linebackers, A.J. Hawk and Brad Jones, and are looking for replacements. They have yet to bring in a surefire starter at the position, so getting an inside look at the competition will be every intriguing every week.
2) Tight end competition
Unlike the linebacker competition, the Packers already have Andrew Quarless and Richard Rodgers on the roster, and both are fighting for playing time. Quarless had the starting job last year, but was starting to be replaced by Rodgers more and more late in the season. There are also rumors that Green Bay may draft a tight end with one of their first picks, adding another exciting dimension to this position battle.
1) How will they recover from last season's playoff loss?
Green Bay narrowly missed out on the Super Bowl because of their heartbreaking loss to Seattle after having a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter. While this probably wouldn't be a long storyline during the show, it would be gripping television when they explore it.
