The Green Bay Packers hold the No. 29 pick in the NFL Draft after a stellar 2016 campaign that resulted in a playoff berth, and this team is looking to add an impact player that can help them compete for the Super Bowl again next season. Here are three players the Packers should target in the first round of the draft:
1) Takkarist McKinley, EDGE, UCLA
The Packers could go a few different directions, but pass rusher is among the most likely. Julius Peppers, Nick Perry and Datone Jones are free agents. Peppers is aging and Clay Matthews is also on the decline. McKinley is a riser and although he doesn't have the best size, he'd help the Packers' pass rush.
2) Tim Williams, EDGE, Alabama
If not McKinley, Williams would be a terrific pass-rushing option - if he is still on the board. A projected top-five pick earlier in the season, this is the might be the right range for Williams given his off-the-field issues. Still, if the Packers decide to take a chance, Williams will make a tremendous impact immediately.
3) O.J. Howard, TE, Alabama
Howard was underutilized at Alabama, but he has all the physical tools of a star. Along with tremendous size and speed, he has some of the softest hands in the entire draft. The Packers got average production from their tights ends all season as neither Richard Rodgers nor Jared Cook (who is a free agent) proved they are a legitimate No. 1 guy. Howard was the upside of being one of the better tight ends in the entire league.
