With the 30th pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers select Damarious Randall out of Arizona State.
Position: Free Safety / Cornerback
Measurables: 5’11”, 196 lbs, 30 ¼” arm length, 8 ⅝” hands
Analysis:
A first-team All-Pac 12 defensive back in 2014, Randall rocketed up the pre-draft projections after posting impressive showings in all the speed events at the NFL Combine. A former JuCo transfer, Randall posted 106 tackles for the Sun Devils last season and had an interception return for a touchdown in each of his two years in Tempe.
Randall is a good athlete who plays like a great athlete thanks to his extremely high motor and innate toughness. He’s an instinctive tackler who posted 177 tackles in two seasons at ASU, and his smaller frame hides the fact that he’s an explosive tackler who drives through receivers on first contact. Extremely intelligent in space with a knack for timing the snap and getting into good position, Randall will consistently outwork the majority of his peers and will likely serve as the glue guy for an NFL secondary for years to come.
