After taking two of three games from West Coast Conference foe Santa Clara (26-26, 12-15 WCC) over the weekend, Gonzaga (29-22, 16-11 West Coast Conference) punched its ticket to the WCC baseball championship tournament.
By beating SCU 5-3 in Friday’s series opener, the Bulldogs clinched their third-straight trip to the four-team tournament. The Zags grabbed Saturday’s game 9-0, before losing in Sunday’s matinee game 4-3.
The Zags finished one game behind Pepperdine (29-22, 17-10) in the conference standings and will face the third-seeded Loyola Marymount Lions (24-28, 15-12) in the first round of the conference tournament. The Zags took two of three games from LMU during their one previous series last month in Spokane.
