But in 2016, the junior is making a habit of it.
Thurston won her second race of the year with a 5K time of 17:32.8 in GU’s 20-41 loss to Idaho on a rainy Saturday morning at Mead High School.
“It’s definitely a very new thing,” said Thurston, who came in first with a 4K time of 13:40.6 at the Clash of the Inland Northwest in Moscow, Idaho. “It is kind of a cool feeling and something I’ve never experienced before.”
Thurston, a Tacoma, Washington native and Bellermine Prep product, was a key contributor for the Zags last season, finishing seventh at the WCC Championships.
