It was an interesting weekend for the Gonzaga women’s tennis team, who battled hard to split the weekend series against Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount.
On Friday, the red-hot Pepperdine Waves, ranked No. 8 in the nation, swept GU 4-0 at the Stevens Center to hand the Zags their first loss in West Coast Conference play this season. For the Waves, it was their ninth straight victory, improving their record to 15-1 on the year and 4-0 in WCC play.
“We played a good match,” head coach D.J. Gurule said about his team’s performance against the Waves. “Pepperdine’s obviously really good, and we worried too much about the outcome.
