For the first time since the 2012-13 season, the West Coast Conference Player of the Year award is leaving BYU's campus in Provo, Utah. Gonzaga’s Jill Barta earned the honor on Tuesday morning after averaging 18.1 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game on 47.7 percent shooting, becoming the first Zag since Taelor Karr in 2013 to win the award. Barta ranked in the WCC top 10 in eight categories this season and is making her third-consecutive All-WCC First Team appearance.
Additionally, head coach Lisa Fortier was named WCC Coach of the Year for the second-consecutive season and third time in four years as she guided the Bulldogs to a conference-record 17 wins.
