Saturday afternoon, the Santa Clara women’s basketball team (5-14, 1-7 West Coast Conference) came to the McCarthey Athletic Center to play Gonzaga (15-4, 8-0 WCC). The Zags ran away with this game early and easily, coasting to a 71-44 victory to remain undefeated in WCC play.
The Zags began the game by flustering the Broncos any way they could. They extended their pressure to the full and three-quarter court, which led to a pair of back court violations. Additionally, when Santa Clara was able to break the initial pressure, GU’s defense remained in their face, making it difficult to operate.
