Pagdanganan became the first golfer in program history — men’s or women’s — to qualify for the NCAA National Championships, as she tied for eighth (2-under 214) at the NCAA Bryan Regional at Traditions Golf Club in Bryan, Texas over the weekend.
The top three individuals not already on advancing teams move on to the National Championships; Pagdanganan placed third out of that group.
Pagdanganan, a Quezon City, Philippines native, shot her best round of the tournament Thursday, where the freshman carded a 5-under 67 to lead all golfers. She nearly imploded on Saturday, posting a 6-over 78, but edged Texas A&M’s Maddie Szeryk by one stroke to hang on to the qualifying spot.
